The things people actually ask

Money, visas, health, travelling with elderly parents, and what happens if you have to cancel. If your question is not here, send it and we will answer it and add it.

Booking

Tell us roughly when you want to travel, how many people, and which tier interests you. We come back with a written quotation from the operator that names the hotels, the airline and the departure date. You pay the operator directly, only after you have that quotation in writing.

Yes. Children need their own passport and visa. Child pricing depends on age and whether they share a bed, and is set out in your quotation.

Groups usually travel together on the same flight with one guide and one group leader. Ask us for the planned size of the departure you are considering; the operator confirms it in writing.

Prices and payment

No. You pay nothing to us. You pay the package price to the operator, directly, and the figure in your written quotation is the figure you pay.

Every tier includes return economy airfare from Colombo, Umrah visa processing, the hotel nights listed for the tier, airport transfers, the journey between Makkah and Madinah, Ziyarah in both cities, a Sri Lankan religious guide with the group, a pre-departure briefing, and Zamzam water where the airline allows it. The tier pages list what is not included.

Umrah prices in Sri Lanka move with airfares, hotel rates and the rupee. The figure on each tier is the price at which that tier normally starts on a sharing basis. Your written quotation is the price you pay, and nothing is added to it afterwards.

Ask us when you enquire. Operators usually take a deposit at booking and the balance a few weeks before departure. Any instalment plan is agreed with the operator in writing.

Cancellation terms are set by the operator and are in your written quotation. Airfare and visa fees are usually non-refundable once issued. Read the terms before you pay the deposit, and ask us if anything is unclear.

Visa and health

Sri Lankan passport holders are not eligible for the Saudi tourist eVisa and there is no visa on arrival, so the route is an Umrah visa arranged by a licensed operator through the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah's Nusuk system. You give your operator a passport valid for at least six months from your arrival date, a passport-style photo on a white background and the documents they ask for; the visa is issued electronically and an Umrah permit is booked in the Nusuk app before you fly. Checked 16 September 2026; read our visa guide for the details.

Saudi Arabia requires a valid certificate of meningococcal vaccination for Umrah pilgrims: a quadrivalent (ACYW) or pentavalent (ACYWX) conjugate vaccine received within the last five years, or a quadrivalent polysaccharide vaccine received within the last three years, in either case at least 10 days before you arrive. Your operator will tell you where to get it in Sri Lanka. Keep the certificate with your passport. Checked 16 September 2026.

Saudi Arabia no longer requires a woman to travel with a mahram for Umrah; the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah announced this in October 2022 and set no minimum age. Your own family circumstances and what your scholar advises are separate matters, and your operator will tell you its group policy.

The journey

Yes, with planning. Choose a tier with a hotel close to the Haram, tell us about any mobility needs when you enquire, and ask the operator in writing what assistance it can arrange at the airports and in the mosques before you book.

Ten days is enough for a complete, unhurried Umrah with time in both cities. Twelve to fourteen days gives you more prayers in the Haram and a slower pace, which many elderly pilgrims prefer.

Ramadan is the most crowded and the most expensive time, and for many the most rewarding. The Umrah visa is not active during the Hajj season, from 1 Dhul Qi'dah to 13 Dhul Hijjah. Outside those periods, the cooler months from November to February are more comfortable in Makkah, which never has a month with an average high below 30 °C. Sri Lankan school holidays in December are popular with families, so ask early for those dates.

All tiers are full board. Essential and Comfort serve a Sri Lankan menu prepared for the group. Premium uses the hotel buffet, which includes Sri Lankan and international dishes.

Yes. An experienced Sri Lankan religious guide travels with every group, leads the pre-departure briefing in Colombo, and is with you for Ihram, Tawaf, Sa'i and the Ziyarah visits. Guidance is in Tamil and English.

Usually, as checked baggage. Zamzam cannot go in your cabin bag because of the liquids rule. Airline rules differ: SriLankan Airlines, for example, allows 6 litres free on flights from Jeddah. Your operator arranges the sealed bottles and confirms the allowance for your airline in the quotation.
